ASTROSE® is an IoT system of wireless sensor nodes for monitoring high-voltage and extra-high-voltage overhead lines. These sensor nodes record various measured values in the spans. The following parameters, among others, are measured to record the relevant parameters of the conductor cable:

  • Temperature of the conductor
  • Current through the conductor
  • Inclination of the cable
  • Swing-out angle of the cable

By continuously recording this data, grid operators can optimize transport capacity, identify critical conditions more quickly and record long-term operating data. This creates significant economic benefits in operation and system management.

ASTROSE® is an energy self-sufficient, ultra low power system with the following areas of application, among others:

  • Increase in transport capacity - Ampacity
  • Ice load detection
  • Hazard detection - rope breakage, ground fault
  • Camera-based equipment and aisle monitoring

Various secure wireless communication technologies are available for transmitting the measurement data, enabling ranges of 1 km and more. A base station receives the data packets and forwards them to a server. Various software modules enable application-specific, AI-based evaluation and a graphical interactive display of the data. The measurement data and aggregated information can be made available to the control system via telecontrol protocols.
