Development of a novel membrane laser module for spectral measurement methods

The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF has partnered up with the start-up “Twenty-One Semiconductors” (21s) from Stuttgart to bring their unique laser concept from lab to practice. Having become a member of the high-tech incubator “FMD-Space” – initiated by the Research Fab Microelectronics Germany (FMD) – 21s has gained access to Europe’s largest machine park in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics. As a part of the FMD, Fraunhofer IAF is supporting the young company with its expertise in the field of semiconductor laser technologies. They are working together to develop a novel, efficient and compact membrane laser module.

Our Offer in the Area of Vehicle Environment Detection

Systems for vehicle environment detection provide an important basis for autonomous driving and digital fabs. The smart solutions realized by the Research Fab Microelectronics make a significant contribution to increase the safety of traffic participants or players in the industrial environment. The 13 member institutes of the FMD have different special knowledge of the technologies and components, which ideally complement each other.

FMD-Space for Startups & Founders

With the FMD-Space, the startup ecosystem in Germany is enriched by a support programme; the development of microelectronic components is made accessible to startups. The founders develop their first demonstrator or the next stage for new product generation together with the experts in the 13 FMD member institutes. In addition, they benefit from tailor-made formats in the field of business model and team development to help them get started with their vision. Further information is available here.
