FMD - future model of the German research landscape

Through close cooperation of 11 Fraunhofer institutes of the Group for Microelectronics with Leibniz FBH and IHP, the scientific and technical excellence of German microelectronics research is consolidated, broadened and coordinated nationwide. The set up phase for the FMD will be finalized by end of 2020.

With the investments made by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the FMD should become the world's leading organization for applied research in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics. Through nationally coordinated cooperation, the FMD offers internationally competitive, decentralized solutions with a high degree of technical maturity for a wider range of industry.
