Detecting foreign objects in food via radar

© Fraunhofer FHR / Sven Leuchs
Did something accidentally get into the double cookies (top) during production that doesn't belong there? In the radar image (below), a piece of glass previously placed in the chocolate cream can be detected.
  • Prototype development as a supplement to classic X-ray methods for detecting foreign bodies made of glass, wood or plastics
  •  The SAMMI® prototype has already been able to detect glass splinters in double cookies and missing pieces of chocolate in Advent calendars.

Applications

  • Food inspection
  • Non-destructive testing
  • Inspection of letters or parcels
